Our modern world is too fast.
There are too many TikTok videos and too many fast food chains.
Your mind should not consume that much in such a short period of time.
- Every TikTok video has a different emotion, and this can change every 30 seconds or even faster, depending on when the consumer starts to scroll to the next video.
- The fastest natural sources of sugar were fruits and honey (or maple syrup, to some extend), but they also contained fibre, vitamins, and other nutrients. Now you get pure sugar without any of the good stuff, or even maltodextrin, raising blood sugar levels even higher.
Life and nature are slow, calming and relaxing, but when danger occurs fast-paced for a short amount of time. A sprint and a rise in adrenaline to prevent or "kill" danger.
Now we have fake anxiety and danger, through bills, taxes and useless government rules, harming our mental peace and nervous system.
Most people live in a fight or flight mode for years (chronic stress), getting "haunted" by bills and "fake" urgency.
Or even worse, restricting the accessibility to some places in nature, only allowing entry after money is transacted.
The new "wealth" is embracing a slow life, only achievable through autonomy, freedom and a specific amount of money.
But there are millionaires struggling personally, because they have built prisons, by executing the wrong business model and restricting themselves from autonomy and freedom.
The new wealth is to be able to have a slow morning and full autonomy of one's own schedule.
The goal is to achieve a state of autonomy where you can learn and master your ADHD symptoms and embrace more of a slower lifestyle.
Every ADHD mind is different and needs small adjustments based on its unique mind.
Yes, there are general "rules" and guidelines we can follow, but they don't solve our individual problems entirely.
Some people are musicians, photographers, singers, writers, engineers, architects, etc.
All of these different ways of work need different approaches or individualized habits and routines for the ideal outcome.
There is no single fit.
Embracing Slow Mornings Makes You More Productive
You can destroy your entire day with bad dopamine in the morning.
When you pick up your phone in the morning, you destroy your brain waves.
There are five main types of brain waves, classified by frequency (speed) in hertz (cycles per second). They represent different mental states.
If you pick up your phone in the morning, you switch immediately from Theta to Gamma.
The multi-processing wave, which leads to anxiety, stress or even depression.
Where you don't achieve any focus.
It is also MUCH harder to get from Gamma to Alpha, or near impossible for ADHD people. (If this happens, you need to train, move or drink coffee to get back to a slower wave, but this doesn't work all the time.)
What you want to achieve is switching right after waking up from Theta (REM sleep: Rapid Eye Movement) to an Alpha (flow state).
You need to increase cortisol and dopamine right after waking up, but need to be mentally calm simultaneously. (using the phone: Gamma is not quiet.)
If you don't drink coffee in the morning, I recommend training right after waking up (after taking a bit of salt), this helps to increase blood flow to the brain, boosts dopamine and cortisol, and you can focus better afterwards.
If you drink coffee in the morning, I would recommend a different routine:
- Cold shower boosts dopamine by 250%
- Take salt water or electrolytes to hydrate the body
- Read for at least 15-30 minutes or start working right away.
- Drink coffee after 90 minutes and achieve instant flow state for writing, photography, painting, video editing, designing, etc.
Go for a run or walk afterwards, ideally without any stimulation, no phone. Let your mind wander to the next tasks.
Additionally, this is going to make you happier.
Test out these habits and fine-tune them for your individual self.
If you win the morning, you win the day.
