Most ADHD people don't need motivation; they need clarity.
And writing is the single greatest skill to enhance clarity.
- With writing, I got over grief after my Dad passed away.
- With writing, I was able to reorganize my ADHD brain.
- With writing, I built an audience of +10,000 people.
- With writing, I enter a daily state of flow.
- With writing, I improved my articulation.
- With writing, I discovered my purpose.
Writing is the most valuable skill to learn.
The biggest problem about ADHD, in my opinion, is that your mind has a higher tendency to create entropy compared to a non-ADHD person, just from my personal observation.
When I look back at my startup, I realize that for my business partners, maintaining clear prioritization and focus was easy.
Whatever the time of day or whatever had happened before, they were able to focus when needed (to some extend), and they always knew what was the most important thing to execute.
I was more the person who struggled with staying focused or prioritizing what is most important. Still, I excelled at connecting with people, whether it was with our employees or customers.
A couple of years later, just 12 months ago, I discovered the art of daily writing.
I always wanted to become a content creator.
When I was 19, I started travel vlogs while travelling in Canada with my friend and co-founder. We were among the first to catch the travel hype. If executed correctly and with confidence, we might have stepped into the niche early.
However, confidence was the major issue.
Then I had a YouTube Gaming channel, which garnered over 2.6 million views, but I quickly realized that this type of content was not my purpose. I just saw the sheer volume of views I reached, and it spiked my dopamine and reward system.
Afterwards, I started my new YouTube channel, which you may know now and have stuck with until today. However, the channel has not been very successful so far. (This newsletter video version will come up tomorrow)
I hit one homerun with a Notion video right at the beginning and achieved 20k views, but that's it.
Back in October 2024, I started writing because Dan Koe published his software Kortex and explained how his writing and second brain system work.
I have always been a huge fan of Dan Koe, and since I was excited to test out Kortex, I quickly fell in love not only with Kortex but with the pursuit of daily creative writing in the form of newsletters.
Initially, there were not many readers, and this trend persisted for eight months. By the end, I had gained 200 subscribers.
Not much, honestly.
BUT.
Because I fell in love with the daily pursuit of writing, and realized how much it changed the way how I think, articulate and organize my thoughts and discovered that I got better month by month and consistently got into a deep flow state every morning, this didn't bother me much, because I got so much purpose and value out of writing, that I didn't care, that I spend 1-2 hours a day on writing.
I enjoyed writing more than gaming.
This work style and "content creation" gave me so much purpose that it was easier to cope with the loss of my Dad.
Through purpose, I found stability and an anchor point in life.
The daily practice of writing is the groundwork of everything you read and watch from me online now.
I wouldn't be able to reorganize, restructure, and "heal" my mind without the daily practice and pursuit of mastery of writing.
If you've read this far, give it a try.
Wake up an hour earlier, grab a cup of coffee, and start brain-dumping your thoughts on paper or a computer screen.
- Grammar doesn't matter.
- Content doesn't matter.
- Quality doesn't matter.
Just start, and you will receive the "magic".
If you don't believe me, just think of how many books are available from the time of Alexander the Great and the Library of Alexandria to this day. (283–246 BC)
I hope this helps. Thank you for reading.
